Learn Our Unique History
Our story began in 1969 when our founders, Pete and Effie Ampatzis, arrived in Philadelphia from Athens, Greece. Pete worked hard as a tailor in a factory before venturing into the restaurant industry. Through years of dedication, he became an expert in his craft and established the first Pete’s Famous Pizza in Logan Square, Center City in 1980.
Since then, our restaurant has become a beloved destination for pizza lovers throughout Philadelphia. We are proud to have been named “Best Pizza of Philadelphia” by Philadelphia Magazine, and we continue to uphold that standard of excellence today.

I didn’t catch the names of the two guys who were absolutely amazing to my family and the furry baby dog! They received us with a wonderful welcome and lots of water right away after we came in super hot and thirsty as we walked from the Rocky statue. We ordered Philly Cheesesteaks and Mega Fries- super delicious and large portions. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

This was a really nice, cozy little pizza shop. Really like the vibe here. Our waitress was really kind and friendly. The burgers were juicy, the fries were crispy, the pizza was cheesy and the salad was so fresh. The food was delicious here. Good size portions and not too pricey. Will definitely come back!

Pete’s Pizza is a must for anyone who loves pizza. On this trip four separate slices in three boroughs in NYC and then Pete’s. The best, right out of the oven. Staff made the experience even better, the original building. Very cool.

Eloquently Speaking About Pete's Famous Pizza The Food Is Delicious! I ordered a turkey club and it was very fresh, the bacon and lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes were juicy and the turkey was very tender. It reminded me of old school turkey clubs when you used to sit at the counters hanging out with your friends after school. The hot wings were awesome with the blue cheese and the fries were perfectly cooked. I highly recommend it, they are friendly and you get your money's worth! Enjoy! Tell them that Eloquently Speaking sent you!
