Our story began in 1969 when our founders, Pete and Effie Ampatzis, arrived in Philadelphia from Athens, Greece. Pete worked hard as a tailor in a factory before venturing into the restaurant industry. Through years of dedication, he became an expert in his craft and established the first Pete’s Famous Pizza in Logan Square, Center City in 1980.
Since then, our restaurant has become a beloved destination for pizza lovers throughout Philadelphia. We are proud to have been named “Best Pizza of Philadelphia” by Philadelphia Magazine, and we continue to uphold that standard of excellence today.
Many of our recipes, including our dough and fresh ribeye, have remained unchanged for over 45 years. Peter Kada is proud to carry on his Grandparents legacy. Pete's Famous Pizza still guarantees the highest level of quality. Over four decades strong we are proud to be a Philadelphia favorite and more importantly everyone's local Pizzeria!
