Pete’s Famous Pizza has proudly served pizza, cheesesteaks and Italian favorites in Philadelphia since 1980.
Our story began in 1969, when founders Pete and Effie Ampatzis arrived in Philadelphia from Athens, Greece. After working as a factory tailor, Pete entered the restaurant business and spent years mastering his craft. In 1980, Pete and Effie opened the first Pete’s Famous Pizza in Logan Square near Center City Philadelphia.
More than 45 years later, Pete’s remains a family-owned Philadelphia pizzeria with locations in Center City, Fairmount and South Philadelphia. Third-generation owner Peter Kada is proud to carry on his grandparents’ legacy while maintaining the quality, recipes and hospitality that made Pete’s a neighborhood favorite.
Our signature dough recipe has remained virtually unchanged for decades, and our cheesesteaks are made with fresh ribeye on locally baked rolls. Pete’s Famous Pizza is also proud to have been recognized by Philadelphia Magazine for serving some of the best pizza in Philadelphia.
